A gorilla shot dead. Wait, what?

Given the funny world that we live in. Here's another funny yet absurd piece of news which popped up recently. A gorilla was shot dead because it apparently tried to "harm" a child who had fallen into it's hideout.
Now let's get a few things clear. How did the child manage to go there? Were the parents so dumb that they lost track of their kid? All I am saying is that how do we know that the gorilla was trying to harm the young kid?
I am not some animal rights activist speaking on behalf of everyone on my team but I am a human being. Just because those creatures can't speak doesn't mean that we shoot them straight out. Because of the carelessness of the parents and other people present there, we lost a gorilla. Tomorrow we may end up losing something else. Then what?
The world will never change. People won't change.
Why did the gorilla get shot?
